A Petal In the City‘s Cervice |路隙之花

Guitar Quartet: The Metaphorical Power of Poetry

It is my great honour to compose this guitar work for Sean Shibe, a Grammy-nominated artist and winner of the Gramophone Award. This piece marks the first clear articulation of my poetic meditation on modern urban living spaces.

A tiny flower pushing through cracks in the pavement lingers unnoticed amid bustling crowds of contemporary life. Yet to me, it holds singular significance, stirring vivid imagery and profound reflection within me. Music serves as my own tongue, through which I convey my perceptions of this fragile bloom. I leave ample room for reverie in the composition, inviting each listener to forge their own unique emotional experience.

Through the Mirror |透过镜子

Cello solo & Visuals: Poetry Hidden in the Gaps of Modern Living Spaces

This audio-visual piece features my original composition and self-shot footage. Rather than fixating on the mirror’s conventional symbolism of symmetry, I sought to intimately experience its unique allure within the context of modern urban life. This led me to my core concept: in cities, any surface that reflects humanity and its habitats acts as a mirror. Mirrors capture our daily lives, yet the unseen margins beyond their frames become the birthplace of poetry and reverie.

For the visual component, I strove to craft footage that stands complete on its own while weaving harmoniously with the music to amplify one another. The soundtrack blends MIDI programming with live-recorded cello, edited and collaged into

a cohesive whole.
